What is the Digital Equity Act?

The Digital Equity Act provides $2.75 billion to establish three grant programs that promote digital equity and inclusion. They aim to ensure that all people and communities have the skills, technology, and capacity needed to reap the full benefits of our digital economy.

What is the Breakdown of Funding for the three grant programs?

  • $60M State Digital Equity Planning Grant - Awarded to date
  • $1.44B Digital Equity Capacity Building Grant Program - Coming Soon
  • $1.25B Digital Equity Competitive Grant Program - Coming Soon

The Capacity Building Grant Program and Competitive Grant Program will be awarded over a 5-year period.

Who is tasked with creating the Digital Equity Plan for your state?

Every state is responsible for formulating its individual state Digital Equity Plan, a task assigned to an Administering Entity selected by the state's governor. The chosen Administering Entity is partnered with a Federal Program Officer from NTIA, who is tasked with supervising the implementation of the plan.
